Acquisition Expands Trim-Tex’s Code Compliance Portfolio and Strengthens Its Commitment to Innovative Firestopping Solutions
Trim-Tex, Inc., a leading manufacturer of drywall finishing solutions, is proud to announce the acquisition of E-Z Tape on September 17, 2026, marking the second acquisition in Trim-Tex’s history and another important step in the company’s continued growth.
The acquisition adds the E-Z Tape product line to Trim-Tex’s growing portfolio of code-compliance products, bringing together an innovative solution with Trim-Tex’s manufacturing capabilities, distribution network and long-standing relationships throughout the building materials industry.
The relationship began more than two years ago, when Trim-Tex Director of Product Management Keil Zornow recognized the potential of E-Z Tape and began building a relationship with its owner, Chris Wirth. What started with an appreciation for a great product developed into a partnership as Trim-Tex and Chris discovered a strong alignment around quality, innovation, and solving real challenges for contractors.
“From the beginning, this was about more than adding another product to our portfolio,” said Mike Garcia, President of Trim-Tex. “Chris built something unique with E-Z Tape, and Keil recognized very early how naturally it fit with where Trim-Tex was headed. Over the last two years, we’ve had the opportunity to work together, build trust, and see firsthand the value this product brings to the industry. Bringing E-Z Tape into Trim-Tex is the natural next step.”
For more than eight years, Trim-Tex has been expanding its presence in firestopping and life-safety applications through its Fire + Sound Solutions product line. The addition of E-Z Tape builds upon that commitment with a complementary solution designed to help contractors address code requirements while improving efficiency in the field.
“E-Z Tape was a natural fit for our Code Compliance portfolio,” said Zornow. “When I first saw the product, I immediately saw its potential. But what made the relationship work was getting to know Chris and realizing how closely our philosophies aligned. We both believe that, if there is a better way to solve a problem for contractors, it is worth pursuing. Now we have the opportunity to combine what Chris created with Trim-Tex’s reach and resources — introducing E-Z Tape to even more people throughout the industry.”
For Wirth, the acquisition represents an opportunity to take a product he developed and built into a successful business and position it for its next stage of growth.
“Seeing what Trim-Tex has accomplished — and more importantly, how they treat people — I know they will be able to get E-Z Tape to areas much more effectively than what we would have been able to do on our own,” added Wirth.
The acquisition follows Trim-Tex’s February 2025 acquisition of Plastic Components, Inc. in Medley, Florida, the first acquisition in the company’s history. While different in size and scope, both acquisitions reflect Trim-Tex’s approach to growth: identifying products and opportunities that complement its core business, share its commitment to quality, and create greater value for customers.
