Tool & Die Maker / Toolmaker – Plastic Extrusion Tooling

At Trim-Tex, Inc, Trim-Tex, a family-owned manufacturer of drywall solutions, located in Lincolnwood, IL, precision tooling drives everything we produce. We’re looking for a skilled Tool & Die Technician / Toolmaker who enjoys hands-on work, solving machining challenges, and building tooling that directly supports high-quality plastic extrusion products.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, repair, and maintain plastic extrusion dies and precision tooling.
  • Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and drill presses.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
  • Machine metal components to tight tolerances and production standards.
  • Inspect parts and tooling using precision measuring instruments.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues affecting extrusion flow, product quality, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Assemble and test tooling to ensure proper fit and performance during production runs.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to support continuous manufacturing operations.

What You Bring

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Tool & Die, machining, or precision manufacturing
  • Strong blueprint reading and measurement skills
  • Experience operating CNC and manual machining equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and improve production tooling
  • Attention to detail and pride in high-quality craftsmanship
