Magic Corner

Product Info

Trim-Tex's patented Magic Corner solves the problem of cracking on any inside corner including bay windows, vaulted and tray ceilings. Magic Corner will only function as good as it's installed. Be sure to read the entire installation instructions below.

Installation Instructions
Method 1: Spray Adhesive

Step 1:

This is the preferred method of installation for Magic Corner. Float out any large dips in the drywall. Take a short scrap piece of Magic Corner (6" long) and make a pencil mark along the leg of the Magic Corner at both ends of the run.

Step 2:

With a chalk line, snap a line along the two pencil marks. This will ensure a straight corner. Cut the Magic Corner to the desired length. Remember, 250'rolls mean no butt joints.

Step 3:

Liberally apply Trim-Tex 847 spray adhesive on the back of the Magic Corner Bead and then to the drywall. Immediately apply bead to the wall using the chalk line as a guide, and press down both mud legs with the flat end of the enclosed Installation Tool. Allow adhesive to tack up and press both mud legs a second time and then staple both legs every 6" with 1/2" long divergent staples. See Finishing section for finishing details.

Method 2: Mud Setting

Step 1:

While Trim-Tex recommends the above installation method, some contractors prefer and have had success with mud setting the Magic Corner. Dry fit the Magic Corner and cut to length. Apply a coat of multi-purpose joint compound to the wall. Do not use fast setting joint compounds.

Step 2:

Using the large radius end of the enclosed Installation Tool, roll the Magic Corner into place as shown. The Magic Corner should align itself straight along the run. Sight line and make any adjustments if necessary.

Step 3:

Press down the legs with your taping knife. The compound should squeeze through the holes in the mud legs. Allow joint compound to dry. See finishing section for finishing details.

Finishing

Always use multi-purpose joint compound to mud Magic Corner. Use lightweight or topping only as a final coat. Between coats, use the pointed tip of the Cleaning Tool to clean the mud out of the flexible center of the bead as shown to the left. The center must be clean of mud for the product to function properly.

Painting:

Magic Corner is designed to be an expansion joint to prevent expensive call backs to fix cracks in the drywall. The pliable center is designed to expand or contract as much as 1/8". Since paint is not very flexible, please follow the guidelines below to ensure satisfactory results. Always use high quality paints as they bond better and have more flexibility than more inexpensive brands. Do not prime the flexible center of the Magic Corner. If applying primer by spray, try not to spray too much paint into the flexible center. The heavier the paint is applied, the worse the performance will be. Brush in a coat of the final paint color.
